Condor Solar PV Panels

Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Panels come in a variety of sizes and grades ranging from small 50W panels used for example in a small lighting application in conjunction with a battery back-up, and up to 300W and more full-sized solar panels used amongst others in industrial, commercial, agricultural and domestic / residential applications.

Condor Solar uses only A-grade photovoltaic panels in their residential and commercial PV Solar Electricity Generation systems in and around Cape Town.

These panels are manufactured locally, are readily available, and come with 10 year factory warranties and 25 year performance warranties.

PV Solar panels are made up of a number of solar cells which generate power to charge batteries for the later use of that power (during the night or during rolling Eskom blackouts), or to drive essential equipment (computers, lights, office equipment, air conditioning in offices and household appliances in residential homes).

Use in business office developments is rapidly increasing due to the fact that the highest demand for electricity typically occurs during the period of highest electricity generation, ie. during the daytime, and when blackouts or loadshedding most affect critical business activities.

The solar cells are generally made of monocrystalline (more effective and more expensive) or polycrystalline (less effective and cheaper but most commonly available) silicon and are packed behind a glass panel.

Factors such as the cleanliness of the glass, daytime temperatures, wind, geographical and physical (trees and / or chimneys / buildings casting shade) location, etc. effect the performance of these panels which when arranged together to form an array.

In Cape Town, solar PV panels are best installed on a north facing roof or mounted frame at between 30 and 40 degrees inclination.

This will help maximize the efficiency of the PV solar electricity generation.
